Chokes![]() Comp-N-Choke has combined precise tolerance machining with more than 30 years of shotgun ballistic research to produce choke tubes that deliver denser, more consistent patterning for all types of hunting and shooting sports. Comp-N-Choke tubes are computer (CNC) machined for precise tolerances and are made from high quality 17-4 grade stainless steel. Because we believe that it’s important to support domestic industry, all of our steel is manufactured within the United States. In addition, all of our machining and finishing processes are done within the United States. The extended, slot-ported choke design of the chokes slows the wad which allows the shot column to get out and away without the wad flying into it and distorting your pattern. In addition, the porting vents the gases to relieve back pressure. The conical / parallel internal design of our chokes is both unique and superior. The in-barrel portion of the chokes is conical, which is where the choking happens. The extended section is parallel on the interior, which holds the shot column at the final constriction. The advantage of this design is that the shot column is traveling straight when it exits. This wad stripping and venting action works in tandem with the unique internal configuration to bring the fliers and stray pellets back into your pattern, increasing pattern density by 30%. This increased density and pattern quality allows you to use a more open constriction, usually one full choke size, without diminished performance. The extended design allows for easy field installation and quick changes with just your fingers. There are no special tools or wrenches required. If you need some extra leverage for installation or removal, our chokes feature cross holes in the collar through which you can insert a small nail, a screwdriver, or an Allen wrench. Chokes have size markings on the choke body as well as on the collar for quick and easy identification. With a few exceptions, our chokes are available in both stainless and black. Patterning Tips - The only way to know your gun's performance is to pattern it with the chokes and shells    you intend to use in the field or for clays. - Too much of a constriction in a choke tube is just as bad as not enough constriction. - Use a good rest. - Use a large sheet of paper, at least 36 inches, to show exact pattern concentration. - Shoot at least two targets - each with different type loads and brand of shells.
